Why Brand Photography Matters for Social Media Managers
Rebecca reached out to me for a brand refresh, looking for support with both her brand design and brand photography. As a social media manager, she needed a library of professional images she could use for Instagram posts throughout the year—headshots, wider shots in both landscape and portrait to accommodate text, and natural, behind-the-scenes moments.
Since Rebecca works primarily from her flat—which is flooded with gorgeous natural light—it made perfect sense to do the shoot there. She booked my Portrait+ session, giving her the flexibility of unlimited outfit changes. Over the course of two hours, we captured a mix of professional headshots, working shots behind her laptop, and relaxed lifestyle portraits (including a few cosy ones with a coffee mug!).
Shooting at her flat also had the bonus of helping her feel at ease. Like most people, she was a little apprehensive about being in front of the camera, so we kept things natural, chatting before and throughout the shoot to keep the mood relaxed. By the end, I had taken around 800 RAW images, from which I sent her a selection of 150 to choose from. Once she’d made her picks, I fully edited them and had them back to her within the week.
Working on this visual branding session was such a joy. I loved the process of designing Rebecca’s brand identity and ensuring her photography reflected it perfectly. Read more about how we prepared for this shoot and developed her brand design [here].
