Casual Headshots for Singers | Sandra Dugdale’s Session

It was such a delight to work with Sandra Dugdale on this recent portrait session. Sandra and I first crossed paths years ago at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), where she was a highly regarded singing teacher, and I was a student. Her warmth and talent left an impression on me then, so when she reached out for updated promotional photos, I was thrilled to reconnect.

Sandra is a distinguished soprano who has enjoyed a rich career in both performance and teaching. A former soloist with leading opera companies and orchestras, she is known for her expressive artistry and engaging stage presence. Her work at RNCM has helped shape countless young singers, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in the music industry.

For this session, Sandra wanted images that truly reflected her vibrant personality and the deep passion she brings to her work. It was a privilege to capture her joyfulness and character in a series of photos that exude authenticity and warmth. The resulting portraits are not just promotional materials—they tell her story, celebrating the person behind the music and her dedication to the art.

Working with Sandra reminded me of why I love what I do—connecting with remarkable individuals and bringing their unique essence to life through photography. It’s always special when a session feels as much like a reunion as it does a creative collaboration.

I’m a photographer and Squarespace web designer based in Altrincham, South Manchester. I specialise in portrait, landscape and opera photography and also offer a “complete website package” where I can offer headshots, photos of your business and design your new website so you can manage it yourself afterwards.

Over the years I’ve built a portfolio career as a professional photographer, opera singer, wardrobe assistant and singing teacher. I have a MMus from the RNCM, a Bachelor in Theatre Sciences and Musicology from Ghent University and I’m a qualified teacher. When my son was born in 2021 I quickly realised that an opera career wasn’t as compatible with being a mum as much as I would like, so I decided to change my focus completely to photography and web design.

I prefer working with daylight in casual surroundings while having a chat making sure you’re at ease and relaxed. It’s the little moments in between that make the best shots!

Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to work with me!
